<<Fujitsu 3.5" SCSI/ATAPI MO Disk Device Driver ver 3.0 (US version)>>

Thank you very much for purchasing our FUJITSU SCSI MO Device Driver Package.
Here is some inmportant information about using MO disk drive and this software
package. Please read this document and MANUAL.TXT.

  This package includes following files.
ATAPIMO.FLT (filter device driver for ATAPI-MO drive)
MODISK.DMD (device driver for ATAPI-MO drive)
MODISK.SYS (device driver for SCSI-MO drive)
      MANUAL.TXT (descriptions)
      README.TXT (this file )
      LICENSE.TXT (license agreements)

This package is designed for SCSI or ATAPI interface Fujitsu 3.5inch MO disk
drives. This package does not support ATA interface MO drive (MB2541B).
For MB2541B, you can find 'newdasd' driver in DDPACK does work. Please try at
your own decision.

<<Installation>>

Follow these steps to install this device driver package.

 (Caution!)
For ATAPI interface, there might be confliction with other IDE/ATAPI device
drivers. (Especially in the case of Warp3.0)
Non standard IDE device drivers might be incompatible with this driver.
So please apply FixPack to your system. For Warp 3.0, XR_W030 or later is
required. For Warp 4.0 we recomend XR04000 or later.
For safety, we recomend you to prepair bootable floppy disks to recover the
config.sys file. If you found any trouble, please check the other IDE/ATAPI
device drivers if they are new.

If your PC uses CMD640x as IDE controller chip set, ATAPI-MO drive may not
   work with this packae.

   1. Insert the driver diskette into drive A.

   2. Open an OS/2 full-screen or OS/2 window session.

   3. At the OS/2 command prompt, type the following command.
            > DDINSTALL
       Then press 'Enter'.

   4. Check the Source and Destination directory, then click on "Install"

   5. Select device driver, and click [Ok] to start installation.

   6. When the installation is complete, shut down your system, remove the
      diskette, and restart your system.

   7. The above procedure installs both SCSI and ATAPI device drivers. You may
comment out one a part of them as follows.

If you are using ATAPI MO drives only,
           BASEDEV=ATAPIMO.FLT /U:ST506_HardDisk
           DEVICE=C:OS2\MODISK.DMD  /U:ST506_HardDisk
           rem DEVICE=c:OS2\MODISK.SYS

If you are using SCSI MO drives only,
           rem BASEDEV=ATAPIMO.FLT /U:ST506_HardDisk
           rem DEVICE=C:OS2\MODISK.DMD /U:ST506_HardDisk
           DEVICE=c:OS2\MODISK.SYS

<<NOTES>>

  1. If you have installed optical disk support of OS/2, the following line
    is added in the 'config.sys'.

DEVICE=OPTICAL.SYS (in the case of OS/2 Warp 3.0)
DEVICE=c:\os2\boot\OPTICAL.DMD (in the case of OS/2 Warp 4.0)

But either device driver is not compatible with this package.
Therefore please modify the above line and comment out as follows.

REM DEVICE=OPTICAL.SYS (in the case of OS/2 Warp 3.0)
REM DEVICE=c:\os2\boot\OPTICAL.DMD (in the case of OS/2 Warp 4.0)

  2. Do not eject MO diskette while MODISK.SYS is starting. That is, do not
press eject button until MODISK.SYS is started when OS/2 is booting and
MO diskette is inserted in the MO drive,

  3. FORMAT command of OS/2 does not support 2048 bytes per sector MO disk.
Therefore please use MOFORMAT instead of FORMAT command.

When you move mouse onto the MO drive icon and press right button,
[Format] menu will appear. But this means standard FORMAT command.
So do not use this operation for 2048 bytes per sectored MO disk.

  4. If you use Warp 4.0, the following error message may be displayed when
you access MO disk for the first time after logical formatting. But it
    is not error in fact.
Please click [OK] and continue your operation.

        5908 " "
An error has occured and the
          message is not accessible. Contact
          the supplier of the application.

  5. If you don't like the icon of MO drive, you can change it. Please do the
following (in the case of Warp4.0):

    1. Move mouse to the the drive icon and press right button. Then pop-up
       menu is appeared.
    2. Select 'Properties'.
    3. Select 'Icon' page and show [Current icon]
    4. Display your favorit icon on the screen.
    5. Move mouse to your favorit icon and press right button.
    6. Drag the mouse to the drive icon in [current icon] of drive properties.
    7. Release mouse button. And close drive properties.

  6. MODISK.DMD and MODISK.SYS have device name 'MO-DISKA' and 'MO-DISK$'.
So these names will not be allowed as file name.

  7. Some SCSI adapter can disable DISCONNECT command. But do not disable
DISCONNECT command. Or you'll get poor performance and you might have
trouble if you try to access SCSI disk(s) from more than 2 programs at
      once.
  8. To use ATAPI MO disk drive, we recomend you to connect it to the
secondary cable. If two drives are connected to the same cable, these
cannot be accessed simultaniousely. This may be a problem when you
      perform low-level format.

  9. If you use long file names and exchange data between Windows95(or NT)
and OS/2, be careful that these operating systems use different way to
manage long file names. Refer to the manual of OS/2 for detail.

 10. FAT32 partition (of windows95) is not compatible for OS/2.
